It’s Matt and Mark’s 35th birthday today so don’t forget to wish them both a Happy Birthday here or in the forums.

This weekend, we’ll be in Arkansas for the Pro Battle MMA: Immediate Impact event. Some guys from the HIT Squad will be fighting in the event. Also, several people from the forums are planning on going, so I hope to see some of you there. -matt

As most of you have probably heard by now, Evan Tanner passed away this weekend. He had been on a camping trip by himself and was reported missing on Friday and his body was found in the desert yesterday. You can read more about the circumstances of his death on the UFC website.

I didn’t really know Evan that well, we never spoke much; but news like this makes me wish that I had taken the time to get to know him a little better. He was 37 years old, only a couple of years older than me. Sometimes we think that we have all the time in the world to get to know people; but when someone who’s still pretty young passes away we realize just how fragile life is and how we can’t take those people around us for granted. Some people saw this coming based on the blog entries that he had posted before leaving for his trip, but it still comes as a shock to MMA fans and fighters all over the world.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends that he left behind. -matt
